Poetry in Motion

I don’t think you need to be an animal lover, or even a lover of horses, to appreciate the elegance and spirit of the Friesians in this video. But if you are … prepare yourself for a real treat. The magnificence of these animals is simply moving.

KFPS Friesians will not allow the video to be embedded, and in fact, the horses will be much better appreciated full screen. Take a look and enjoy.

Oh to have a mane that flowed like that! Not sure that I would want to ride that gait though.

Was speaking to a friend who’s a serious rider yesterday, and she did mention it was difficult riding on a horse of that gait. You can see how centered the riders are in the video. I am totally impressed!

And notice the high backs of the saddles to keep riders in there place. I would rather drive them than ride them. Yet oh how marvelous to see them move!

I know. There’s a horse at the equine rescue that I work with, Mylestone, and where I also assisted in the rescue itself, (specifically securing the placement of the mini who was rescued along with the beautiful mover.). As wretched as Duncan looked when brought to Mylestone, once in the paddock, he just floated in circles, his hooves barely touched the ground. We all watched and cried. Here’s the story of their rescue – Duncan, all put back together, is down the bottom. http://www.mylestone.org/news.asp?page=117

Duncan an Emma were two of the lucky ones. Kudos to you for your rescue work, Jeanne. Your place in heaven is reserved, surrounded by plenty of critters. I am headed up to Montpelier today to check out the retired/rescued thoroughbreds there. Photos to follow. OOXX

They sure are. And when emaciated Emma arrived at Popcorn Park, after a few days, she dropped a foal! They call her the miracle baby because they don’t know how she even survived Emma’s starvation, her wormings and treatment for lice. It’s 2 years later now, but here’s what Emma and baby Sunshine looked like after she was born — http://www.ahscares.org/showarchive.asp?id=710
            Enjoy the rescue thoroughbreds! jeanne
